Bryan J. Wolf is the Jones Professor of American Art and Culture, Emeritus, Stanford University. He is the author of Romantic Re-Vision and Vermeer and the Invention of Seeing, and the former codirector of the Stanford Arts Initiative. He is currently completing a book of essays on Philip Guston and Martin Puryear titled Hidden Histories.
