Karín Lesnik-Oberstein

Karín Lesnik-Oberstein is a professor of critical theory in the department of English literature at the University of Reading, UK. She has lectured there since 1995, after being a junior research fellow for five years at Oxford University. Karín is director of the Graduate Centre for International Research in Childhood: Literature, Culture, Media (CIRCL) and its master of research degree in children’s literature. Her major publications include her monographs Children’s Literature: Criticism and the Fictional Child (1994) and On Having an Own Child: Reproductive Technologies and the Cultural Construction of Childhood (2008), and several edited volumes and a wider range of articles and chapters on critical theory and childhood, children’s literature, gender, disability and science. Her ongoing research interests are in the areas of multi- and transdisciplinary critical theory.
