Michael A. Osborne is Professor of History of Science at Oregon State University and recently completed a four year term as Senior Fellow at the Aix-Marseille University Institute for Advanced Study. His latest book, The Emergence of Tropical Medicine in France, was published in 2014. He is currently working on a global biography of yellow fever, and on the recalcitrant problem of biological individuality.
