Sarah M. Miller is an independent scholar of photography and moder art. She earned her Ph.D. at the University of Chicago and has held teaching positions at the University of Chicago, San Francisco Art Institute, and the University of California-Santa Cruz. Currently a visiting scholar at the University of California-Berkeley, she is working on a book about the multiplicity and contest of ideas of "documentary" in American photography of the 1930s.
