Amahl Bishara is professor of Anthropology, and affiliated with the Department of Studies of Race, Colonialism, and Diaspora, at Tufts University. She is the author of Crossing a Line: Laws, Violence, and Roadblocks to Palestinian Political Expression (2022), about different conditions of expression for and exchange between Palestinian citizens of Israel and Palestinians in the West Bank, and Back Stories: U.S. News Production and Palestinian Politics (2013), an ethnography of the production of US news during the second Palestinian intifada. Working with youth at Lajee Center, in Aida Refugee Camp, Bethlehem, she has coproduced three bilingual children’s books, including The Aida Camp Alphabet (2014). She is director or codirector of three documentaries, including “Take My Pictures For Me” (2016).
