Fredrik Renard is an assistant professor of German literature at Uppsala University and a Pro Futura Scientia XX Fellow at Stockholm University and the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study. His fields of expertise are poetics, genre theory, historical narratology, and phenomenology, with a particular emphasis on the novel. He is the author of Arbeit am Zufall: Die Formierung des modernen deutschen Romans im 18. Jahrhundert (2021). His journal articles have appeared in New Literary History, Poetics Today, and Modernism/modernity.
