Annie McClanahan is an associate professor of English at the University of California, Irvine. She is the author of Dead Pledges: Debt, Crisis, and 21st Century Culture (2016), which appeared as part of Stanford University Press’s Post45 series and which won the Association for the Study of the Arts of the Present Best Book of 2016 Prize. Her work has appeared in boundary2, Representations, theory&event, Journal of Cultural Economy, South Atlantic Studies, and elsewhere. She is currently working on two book projects: one on the automation of post-industrial work and another on the cultural history of microeconomic individualism.
