Charles Altieri is unhappily retired from the English Department at University of California, Berkeley in July 2001 after fifty-three years of University teaching. Because he cannot figure out what to do with himself he followed his book Modernist Poetry and the Limitations of Materialist Theory: The Importance of Constructivist Values (2021), with a short book in 2023, Literature Education Society, and several critical essays. He also just finished a longer book manuscript entitled, "Poesis: Imaginative Experience and the Liberal Arts."
