Jayne Lewis is professor of English at the University of California, Irvine, and the author of Air’s Appearance (Chicago, 2012) as well as numerous other monographs and articles, primarily on eighteenth-century literature and culture. She has also edited or coedited several anthologies and is currently completing a project on sleep and the second person in a re-enchanted modernity.
