Jonathan D. S. Schroeder is a historian of literature, medicine, and emotion, and a wildlife rehabilitator. A visiting assistant professor of American Studies at Brandeis University, he is coeditor, with Meredith Farmer, of Ahab Unbound: Melville and the Material Turn (2021). He is also the author of No Longer Yours: The Lives of John Swanson Jacobs, and editor of Jacobs’s lost autobiography (forthcoming from University of Chicago Press as a dual volume). His current project, Prisoners of Loss: An Atlantic History of Nostalgia, is under contract with Harvard University Press, and a future project, Lauren Berlant: A Reader, is under consideration at Duke University Press. Schroeder is the recipient of long-term fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the American Antiquarian Society, and the John Carter Brown Library.
