Laura Heffernan is professor of English at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. She is coauthor, with Rachel Sagner Buurma, of The Teaching Archive: A New History for Literary Study (2021), a new disciplinary history that focuses on how and what twentieth century English professors taught at a range of colleges, universities, and extension schools. At UNF, Heffernan is project lead on the NEH-funded Viola Muse Digital Edition, which publishes the interviews and essays that local salon owner Muse drafted for the “Negro Writers’ Unit” of the Florida Federal Writers Project (1936-40).
