Nathan Wolff is associate professor of English at Tufts University. He is the author of Not Quite Hope and Other Political Emotions in the Gilded Age (2019). His current book project, tentatively entitled Inhuman Environments, explores how nineteenth-century American literature illuminates the political effects of the nonhuman world.
