Rachel Sagner Buurma is associate professor of English at Swarthmore College. She has recently published essays on book indexes, metadata, and reading in the digital age, and is finishing a book on the formal and social relations between nineteenth-century novelists and literary critics. She is coauthor, with Laura Heffernan, of The Teaching Archive: A New History for Literary Study (2021).
