Rachel Teukolsky is associate professor of English at Vanderbilt University. She is the author of The Literate Eye: Victorian Art Writing and Modernist Aesthetics (2009). Her second book, nearing completion, is titled Picture World and studies the new visual media of the nineteenth century. Her essays and criticism have appeared in PMLA, ELH, Victorian Studies, Artforum, and elsewhere.
