V Chaudhry and Jacqueline Stevens

V Chaudhry is a PhD candidate in the Department of Anthropology at Northwestern University. V’s research focuses on the institutionalization of the category “transgender” in the United States, particularly as the category is taken up in funding-related interactions among nonprofit advocates and social service providers. V is currently conducting ethnographic fieldwork in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.   

Jacqueline Stevens is a professor in the Political Science Department at Northwestern University, where she teaches political theory and directs the Deportation Research Clinic. Her most recent book is the coedited collection Citizenship In Question: Evidentiary Birthright (Durham, N.C., 2017). Her current research investigates tensions in theories of friends and enemies, with a focus on the paradoxes of war and friendship in works by Plato and Aristotle.
