Colin Jones

Colin Jones is Professor of History Emeritus at Queen Mary University of London, and occasional Visiting Professor in History at the University of Chicago. In 2025–26 he is John and Constance Birkelund Fellow at the Cullman Center, New York Public Library. Recent books include The Fall of Robespierre: 24 Hours in Revolutionary Paris (2021); The Letters of the Duchesse d’Elbeuf: Hostile Witness to the French Revolution (edited with Alex Fairfax-Cholmeley & Simon Macdonald, 2024); The Shortest History of France (2025); and French Revolutionary Lives (edited with David A. Bell, 2025). His Maximilien Robespierre: Revolutionary Speeches, coedited with Stephen W. Sawyer will appear in 2026.
